AI for Good Hackathon

Registrations are now closed

On the 6-7 April 2019, AUT’s City Campus will be a hive of activity with over 120 people coming together with one mission:
To find creative ways that AI can be used to advance society.

AI for Good is Microsoft’s $115 million commitment to empower those working to solve humanitarian issues, advance global sustainability, and amplify human capability.

During the AI for Good Hackfest, this will extend to empowering the wider public to create meaningful contributions to these fields.

AI for Good is made up of three programs:

  1. AI for Accessibility – Focused on daily life, employment, and communication and connection
  2. AI for Earth – Focused on agriculture, biodiversity, climate change, and water
  3. AI for Humanitarian Action – Focused on disaster response, refugees and displaced people, human rights, and needs of childre

This AI for Good Hackfest is part of the AI-DAY 2019 schedule of events, and is proudly presented by Aware Group in partnership with Microsoft.

Saturday 6 April 2019

Kick off, orientation, form teams, meet mentors, idea generation & commence hack.

  • 8:00am: Sign on
  • 8:15am: Welcome, key note speakers
  • 9.00am: Team formation
  • 9.15am: Morning tea (provided)
  • 9.30am: Idea generation & refinement
  • 12.00pm: Lunch (provided)
  • 1.00pm: Commence development
  • 5.15pm: Check in with mentors
  • 6.30pm: Dinner (provided)
  • 10:00pm: Doors close for the night

Sunday 7 April 2019

Hacking, rehearsing, showcase, judging.

  • 7:00am: Doors open
  • 8:00amAgenda & breakfast (provided)
  • 9.00am: Development
  • 12.00pm: Lunch (provided)
  • 12.30pm: Final dash development
  • 3.00pm: Tools down, networking drinks (provided)
  • 3.30pm: Showcase

Terms & Conditions

We encourage all participants to read the full Terms and Conditions for participation in the event, however here’s some of the key information you’ll be wanting:

  • Location: The event will be held at AUT City Campus in the Waveroom.
  • Time: The event will kick off at 8.00am on Saturday 6 April 2019 and finish by 6.00pm Sunday 7 April 2019.
  • Eligibility: All participants must be over 18 at the time of the event need to complete the below registration to be included.
  • Agreement: By completing the below registration form, you agree to all AI for Good Hackfest Terms and Conditions.
